I wanted to make something for a coworker. You probably recognize the pralines. The other things were something my wife suggested. I remember talking to my sister about them—just the odd question. Before you knew it, we had out the cocoa, oatmeal, and sugar. 
Saucepan Oatmeal Cookies
2 Cups Sugar¼ Cup Cocoa Powder½ Cup Milk½ Cup Butter2 Cups Quick Oats¼ Cup Peanut Butter1 Tablespoon Light Corn Syrup1.    Mix all but oats and peanut butter in a saucepan, and bring to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes—I usually wait until it is at a soft ball temperature (234 degrees)2.    Stir in oats and peanut butter.3.    Return mix to boil.4.    Remove from heat, and stir until slightly thickened.5.    Drop onto wax paper.
